Il Messaggio di Papa Francesco per la 54.ma Giornata mondiale della pace, che verrà celebrata il primo gennaio 2021, ha per titolo “La cultura della cura come percorso di pace”. Praticare ed educare alla cura, scrive il Papa, è la via per “debellare la cultura dell’indifferenza, dello scarto e dello scontro, oggi spesso prevalente”
La cultura della cura, come “impegno comune, solidale e partecipativo per proteggere e promuovere la dignità e il bene di tutti”, e “disposizione ad interessarsi, a prestare attenzione, alla compassione, alla riconciliazione e alla guarigione, al rispetto mutuo e all’accoglienza reciproca”, costituisce una via privilegiata per la costruzione della pace, per “debellare la cultura dell’indifferenza, dello scarto e dello scontro, oggi spesso prevalente”.
