Sono 41 i nuovi progetti approvati dal Comitato per gli interventi caritativi a favore del Terzo Mondo della Cei per i quali saranno stanziati 8.428.424 di euro. In particolare, 3.771.584 euro per 19 progetti in Africa, 1.771.084 euro per 9 progetti in America Latina, 1.399.989 euro per 10 progetti in Asia, 613.078 euro per 1 progetto in Oceania, 856.330 euro per 1 progetto in Medio Oriente e 16.359 euro per 1 progetto nell’Europa dell’Est.
Tra gli interventi più significativi, viene spiegato, 6 sono in Africa e di questi 3 riguardano l’ambito sanitario; con altri si intende promuovere lo sviluppo sociale ed economico della popolazione, rispondere al forte incremento di disoccupati o sottooccupati tra i giovani, avviare la formazione imprenditoriale ma anche aiutare le comunità con un bassissimo tasso di scolarizzazione.
In America Latina, i nuovi interventi avranno una particolare rilevanza nel campo sociale: corsi di formazione e attività sportive in Brasile e Paraguay, mentre in Ecuador si punta a sostenere l’educazione, lo sviluppo della cultura e della lingua.
