Non è in cima ai pensieri di tante persone, ma è un problema, per tutti! Il rapporto di Reporters sans frontières per la Giornata mondiale della libertà di stampa dice che la Norvegia è il paese più virtuoso, la Corea del Nord chiude la classifica. L’Italia è 41esima è non è una bella notizia. La libertà dei media è in uno stato disastroso in un numero record di paesi, secondo l’ultimo World Press Freedom Index di Reporters sans frontières, diffusoin occasione della Giornata mondiale della libertà di stampa di cui questo mercoledì 3 maggio ricorre il 30° anniversario.
Secondo l’indice sulla libertà di stampa, la situazione è “molto grave” in 31 Paesi, “difficile” in 42, “problematica” in 55 e “buona” o “soddisfacente” in 52. In altre parole, l’ambiente per il giornalismo è “cattivo” in sette paesi su 10 e soddisfacente solo in tre su 10.
Un continuo degrado della libertà di stampa in tutta Europa, tanto più nuovamente toccata dalla guerra, con giornalisti assassinati, imprigionati, aggrediti fisicamente, perseguitati per via giudiziaria o sottoposti a campagne diffamatorie. Libertà di stampa è anche poter intervistare personaggi pubblici senza essere interrotti, intimiditi, umiliati nella propria professione. È esercitare il difficile compito di ‘cane da guardia’ che rende più compiuta una democrazia degna di questo nome. Libertà di stampa è anche un invito forte per i giornalisti e le giornaliste a tenere la schiena dritta, a scegliere la verità possibile, ad essere degni di questo meraviglioso mestiere.
